Books Thru Bars is a local non-profit housed at Groundworks Book Collective in San Diego. Right next to the UCSD campus, Books Thru Bars strives to make literacy more accessible, as without access to the internet, books are one of the only places to turn for incarcerated people who wish to learn, imagine, study or grow. We respect readers’ journeys by selecting items in line with their interests, whether that be educational or recreational.
Time: 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
Location: Groundworks Book Collective - 9330 Eucalyptus Grove Lane, San Diego, CA 92093
This event will be a packaging and labeling event where volunteers will be asked to fill book requests and package them. Please wear closed toed shoes, and bring a reusable water bottle. If you are sensitive to sun, please wear sunscreen and wear a hat.
Note: Children under 18 should have guardian supervision at all times. The space is wheelchair accessible, but the library is a tight space, so discretion is advised.
Parking: There is limited parking in front of Groundwork Books Collective (search LotP113 UCSD) but if that is full, there is a larger lot down the street. For this lot, search "South Parking Structure UCSD."
